Registration Form - Call for Artists

“Layers of Life” is an art project in which we ask the artist to create one or two new works. The layering process may represent some significant time in your life, either revealing or concealing your perceptions and beliefs. Each layer can have a personal or spiritual aspect applied. The layers also may be physical and/or conceptual, but their aim is to bring density, resonance and vital import to your creation. All artwork must include a narrative documenting your process in 100 words or less. The style is not what makes the work so much as the mind that intends to create.

June 8 – July 12, 2008

$100 and $150 People’s Choice Awards given at each location
Open to artists ages 16 and over. Entry Procedure: There is a non-refundable entry fee (total) of $20
due upon delivery of artwork. Each artist may submit up to two entries. Entries must be hand delivered
or shipped to the Lowell Area Arts Council, 149 S. Hudson, PO Box 53, Lowell, MI 49331. Shipped
artworks must be received by Friday, May 30, 2008, with appropriate application documentation.

Drop Off - Friday, May 30 12 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Saturday, May 31 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Important information regarding proper presentation of entries
All work MUST be properly framed with no exposed glass edges. All 2-dimensional work must have a hanging wire. Saw-tooth or ring hangers will not be accepted! Entries may be no larger than 6 feet in any one direction. If entry weighs more than 50 pounds, you must obtain written approval by the Arts Council staff prior to delivery. This written approval must
accompany your entry.

Labels must be firmly affixed to the upper right hand corner on the back of the entries. Entry labels on 3-dimensional work must be tied, taped or pinned securely to each piece. All hanging 3-dimensional entries must have adequate hanging hardware and hanging systems. “We reserve the right to reject any entry that we determine is offensive or otherwise unacceptable.”

“Layers of Life” is a collaborative art event between the Lowell
Area Arts Council and the FranciscanLifeProcessCenter.
